Welcome to Musings and Insights from Herb

My spiritual journey began later in life and was cemented by my surviving a car crash on November 25, 2023. This led me to question why I survived, which I believe is to share with others through writing about my ongoing spiritual journey. My spiritual journey is seen through the lens of my Jewish beliefs (traditional as well as Kabbalah) which will be reflected in my musings and prayers, though the latter will be generic.

I will use this space on our website to post my writings, which at times may take the form of prayer. The intention (kavanah, the Hebrew word for intention) is to get you to think more and differently about spiritual occurrences in your life; to wake up your spirit (ruach, the Hebrew word for spirit). Sprinkled amidst these writings will be sayings/quotes by spiritual masters from across the millenia, to encourage you to think more deeply about the writings.

At the top of this page are two Hebrew letters (B"H) meaning “with the help of the Creator,” a constant reminder that we are not doing things alone. Hopefully this section of the website will lift your spirit, encourage you to start your own journal, and remind you that we are never alone. May it also provide a different perspective on the challenges we all are facing and be a blessing to you.
